Update on Tunnels

It got down to 7 degrees last night.  Clear and cold today.  The sweet peas are thriving in the green house and the ranunculus and anemone are pre-sprouting for planting next week.  We peaked in the tunnels and indeed we lost 90% of our fall planted biennials.  So disappointing!!

End result is we are back to seeding like mad to try and get some of them in early enough to offer the gorgeous spring blooms we all adore. It means our spring beauties will be later this year than we’d hoped. Next year we will move their seeding and planting out dates up by 2 weeks.  So much of farming is a constant readjusting of strategies.

I applied for our first grant and found it exciting to have the opportunity to lay out in detail what we do.  Have our fingers crossed they consider us and also know this is just the first of many to be written. So looking forward to what we can accomplish in 2023!
